この作品は、東日本大地震に影響を受けて描きました。当時、テレビ越しで見た津波の映像には私に大きな動揺を与えました。その後、ボランティアとして復興支援に参加し、破壊された街に何とも言えない切なさと悲しさを覚えました。その中でも、復興作業をしている人々を見て、未来への歩みと過去への郷愁をテーマとして描きました。
